You can find over 200 Jams on topics like The Universe , listen to songs about Landforms , and test yourself on various strands of your math and science curriculum. Study Jams is an online learning tool by Scholastic Corporation. It was created with the intention of teaching math and science to grades 3-6. Its use of real-world examples allows for the application into everyday life and the assistance to classes and school to become easier. Study Jams uses interactive study techniques such as karaoke, videos, and tutorials. It can be used at home by parents or at school, either by teachers or in the library.

Lisa's demonstrates a bottom up approach to learning for Special ed students. PaulDB in a recent tappedin session on UDL stated " I believe that teachers have a right to teach and students have a right to learn and both can find success in a classroom that follows the UDL principles."
"Personal growth, creating the opportunity for current and future success is generally the more important focus"

GRRREAT SUGGESTIONS FOR SKYPING AN AUTHOR INTO YOUR CLASSROOM.

"It all started when author Mona Kerby visited Grandview Library in 2008 to talk to our 2nd graders about her book Owney, The Mail Pouch Pooch. In 2009, Ms. Kerby visited our new class of 2nd graders via Skype. The children and their teachers cheered when Ms. Kerby "appeared" on our Smart Board. Ms. Kerby talked about Owney and the process she went through to research, write, and publish the book. Several of the children asked Ms. Kerby questions and the whole group enjoyed waving at and thanking Ms. Kerby for "visiting"."

Learning how to be a learner... comments from Sunday's edtech talk

... Learning to learn is important, but that is not what standardized testing is looking for, what you are talking about is not measureable in our measureable environment today?

... I need control to be effective all teachers do but building relationships and trust is key

... Planned ignore for minor misdemeanors, proximity, etc all useful tools in the kitbag

... Instructional Tolerance is a good term...how much can we and students subject ourselves to in the classroom.

... I find myself sometimes saying, "You need to do this because I cannot function when you don't."

... I am slowly learning what parts of my classroom I need control over for my own sanity & what parts I can turn over to my students. It's a learning process...& I'm finding that with the right structure, I am comfortable turning more & more over to my students.

... So, not the control freak; I like that term Instructional Tolerance. I do not enjoy being observed by administrators who are control freaks!

Thanks, Jennifer, for sharing your blog with the webheads group at tappedin.org. We glean sooo much from the weekly casual Sunday meetings. Members join us from such places as Argentina, Nevada, Pittsburgh, Israel etc. These webheads are definitely globetrotters!
